Tapola - a very special Community
Tapola was founded in 1974 and is situated in the centre of the village Niinikoski, which belongs to the commune Orimattila.
In seven comfortable House-communities are living nearly 70 people, 37 of them are villagers, the rest are co-worker and their children. We make an effort for community life in the houses, at leisure time, at work and in cultural life based on seasonal Christian feasts; deepened by theatre, concerts and art. Common conferences for the different living ? and working fields are the basis for common decisions and developments.
Our community impulse is based on Anthroposophy, which was founded by Rudolf Steiner. The biodynamical farm was from the beginning an important working sector. To our community are belonging 50 ha field and 16 ha forest. Rain and green fodder, vegetables and herbs are cultivated. Our farm cares for a flock of 20 Eastern-Finnish cows, as well as pigs and sheeps. Both at the farm, and in weaving, creamery, herb workshop, in the garden and all the houses are existing varied working possibilities.
The main point of our village community is common work and community life. We bear responsibility together.
The social principle, which was phrased by Rudolf Steiner in the year ?, is the basis of our common impulse:
The well-being of a together working human community is the bigger, the less the individual person serves through his work, his own needs - but the more his needs are served through the work of others.
